Who said fruit had to be boring!
This week “we love” cakes made from stacking fruit. A great activity to get the kids involved in and a lovely healthy alternative to sweets and cakes (although as you will know we do love them too!)
Here are our Top 3 Fresh Fruit Cakes with some MC twists to make them taste and look awesome!
You will need:
At least 3 different types of Melon
Some soft fruit, cream or yogurt to decorate
A small plate or saucer to use as a template
A sharp knife
A ruler
Method:
Use your ruler to cut each melon into approx 1 cm round slices
Take your small plate or saucer to cut out equal size discs
Remove any seeds
Stack your melons in alternative layers
Fill the middle gaps (where any seeds were) with cream/yogurt
Decorate the top of your melon cake with the soft fruit, cream and/or think yogurt
TOP TIP: Buy spray cream so you can make pretty designs on top of your Fresh Fruit Cake.
You will need:
At least 3 colours of apple
Some cream or yogurt
Cinnamon
Brown sugar (granulated adds a nice crunch)
An apple corer
A sharp knife
A ruler
Method:
Use your apple corer to remove the cores from each apple
Use your ruler to cut each apple into approx 1 cm round slices, leave the skin on.
Mix some cinnamon and brown sugar into your cream/yog to taste
Stack your apple slices in alternative layers with the cinnamon cream in-between
Decorate the top with cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon and some brown sugar
You will need:
Some soft pears
Some cream or yogurt
Brown sugar (granulated adds a nice crunch)
granola
honey
A sharp knife
A ruler
Method:
Use your ruler to cut each pear into approx 1 cm round slices
Mix some granola and a small amount of brown sugar into your yog to taste
Stack your pear slices in alternative layers with the granola yogurt in-between
Drizzle the top with honey and serve.
