How To Use Strawberries This Summer

With Wimbledon just around the corner it’s berry season.

In this weeks blog we take a look at some traditional and slightly unusual ways to use strawberries this summer.

Traditional = Eton Mess

Image and recipe from Delia Smith

Summer would’t be summer without this fabulous (and easy) dessert. Take a look at this recipe from Delia Smith which includes making your own meringues (you can always cheat if you don’t fancy it)

Savoury = Strawberry Panzanella

This summer salad from Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is a perfect example of sweet meets savoury. Packed with toasted bread, fennel, red onion, capers, cucumber, and Mediterranean flavours like basil and balsamic it’s a sure winner for an al fresco summer supper.

Frozen  = Berry Ice Cubes

These go down well with both kids and grown ups and make up one of your 5 a day (if you have enough that is). Get inspired by  these pretty cubes from Spoon Fork Bacon

Baked = Strawberry Buttercream Swiss Roll

Swiss rolls remind us of childhood. What a perfect way to use strawberries in a bake this summer. Pair with some sandwiches and tea and you’ve got a fabulous afternoon treat.

For Grown Ups = Boozy Strawberries with Almond Thins

As always a little something reserved for the grown ups in the house. Try these boozy strawberries (paired with your choice of fruit liqueur). Just try not to eat too many!
