Grow Make Eat

Did you see The Big Allotment Challenge on TV? Here at Mummies Club we didn’t miss an episode. Inspired by their format of Grow, Make and Eat we’ve pulled together some simple ideas from each category. Prefect to fill those long summer evenings, doing something for yourself.

For GROW we have chosen 4 super simple fruit and veggies to nurture over the next few months. Even though the growing season is in full swing there’s still plenty of time to get a mini garden going (or expand you current one).  So get active this weekend and do some planting. Try the following:

Grow some lettuce and radish seeds

Grow some tomato and runner bean plants

The MAKE part of this blog still focusses on using “produce” to create something beautiful. Here are our make ideas:

Make some flower bunting

Make a natural tea light holder using some twigs

Make a summer wreath

EAT is one of our favourite categories. With the pick-your-own season in full swing why not pop along to your local farm and pick some fabulous seasonal, local produce. Try using what you harvest and:

Eat a sumptuous summer pudding, (add a little clotted cream and sit back and relax)

Try this BBC GOOD Food Recipe

Eat a home-made jam or local honey, perfect on crumpets

Eat a spicy chutney with some local cheeses
